The BAEPC programme offers a unique approach to the study of English as it is used in professional and cultural contexts. It is the only programme in Hong Kong that combines a strong foundation in English Language Studies with a practical orientation towards its use in the corporate world and the creative professions. The programme focuses on developing students' English-language communicative competencies for a wide range of professions, including management and administration, editing and publishing, writing, teaching, public relations and advertising, and entertainment and the arts. Students in this programme can specialize in corporate and professional communication, corporate training and language teaching, creative and cultural studies, and bilingual professional communication. The goal of the programme is to train students to be innovative and creative users of the English language in a globalised society.
The BAEPC programme provides students with hands-on workplace experience throughout the three-year curriculum in the form of a year-long final year professional communication project, a summer internship, and industry-based professional communication projects integrated into various courses. This industry exposure enables students to gain their workplace experience in preparation for future careers in the global business environment or the creative professions.
Students are also given direct international exposure and a broader world-view through semester-long international exchange opportunities and organised study tours in a range of countries. This global outreach provides students with cross-cultural awareness and a broader understanding of international business and creative practices. Graduates of the BAEPC programme are well equipped with a competitive combination of English language skills, intercultural awareness, professional communication concepts, and creativity.
