The 18th Conference of the International Association for World Englishes (IAWE) will be jointly hosted by City University of Hong Kong and Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, from December 6-9 2012. The theme of the conference this year is 'World Englishes: Contexts, Challenges and Opportunities'.

An IAWE conference is always an exciting and inspiring event, and this year is no exception. One particularly exciting aspect of this year's conference is that it will be jointly sponsored by the City University of Hong Kong and Sun Yat-sen University, and take place in two locations, Hong Kong and Guangzhou. The conference will begin in Hong Kong, with registration opening on Wednesday December 5 at City University of Hong Kong. After one and a half days' sessions at CityU, the conference participants will then be driven to Guangzhou by coach, and the IAWE conference will continue at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.
